The LoadDown - 03/07/2011

Time marches on, and the games keep coming, though it's a slower week than usual...

WiiWare -- One new game and one free demo this week.  The new one is Heavy Fire: Black Arms, a Zapper-compatible shooter that looks quite nice for a downloadable game.  There's also a free demo of the Breakout/Arkanoid-inspired Soccer Bashi.

Wii Virtual Console -- Hudson Soft continues its support of the Virtual Console, with the Nintendo 64 title Bomberman Hero.

DSiWare -- Three new titles.  Jelly Car 2 is a sequel to the stylized driving/platform game from Disney Interactive.  G.G Series HORIZONTAL BAR is a physics/stylus motion game with elements of gymnastics. GO Series EARTH SAVER is a sci-fi puzzle game challenging the player to break up incoming meteorites into small, non-planet-destroying fragments.

XBox Live Arcade -- One substantial new remake this week:  Beyond Good & Evil HD, an improved version of the now-classic 2003 Ubisoft game.  This action adventure by Michel Ancel (Rayman) features the investigative reporter-slash-hero Jade on her quest to uncover an alien conspiracy.  The game was critically well-received but not a big seller, so it's nice to see it getting a second chance (with a full-blown sequel reportedly in the works.)

PS3 on PSN -- A sure-to-please sequel, the retro-styled PixelJunk Shooter 2 shmup arrives.

PSOne Classics -- No activity here this week.
